About Us

Sister by Studio Ashby was founded in 2020 as a part shop, part playground. A playful manifestation of Studio Ashby’s aesthetic. Our collection of future heirlooms, bespoke furniture, vintage treasures, art and accessories, are all curated and designed in-house by Studio Ashby and our founder Sophie Ashby. Each and every piece has a story to tell, drawing on a myriad of references and Sophie’s continual foraging.

Nestled on Caxton Street in the heart of London, within the Grade I listed Blewcoat School, Sister by Studio Ashby feels like a haven of creativity in an otherwise bustling cityscape. In this beautifully preserved and historic building, we craft a true sense of home for every visitor.

"Possessions and art hold the power to make you feel at ease and familiar - they help create the essence of home," says Sophie Ashby, encapsulating the spirit of Sister.

Our commitment to nurturing creativity shines through in our ongoing Artist in Residence programme, currently featuring the work of four exceptional female artists from across the globe - handpicked by Sophie.

We continue to expand our acclaimed fabric collection with Yarn Collective, introducing new designs that will join our existing Jocasta Collection and the vibrant Trippy range, which debuted earlier this year. These fabrics, in rich, distinctive hues, will reflect our bold yet timeless aesthetic, staying true to the core vision.

At Sister, we believe in creating pieces that not only inspire but also transform spaces into homes filled with character, comfort, and beauty. We look forward to continuing this journey with you.

Craftmanship

While we’re playful by nature, one thing Sister takes very seriously is the art of craftsmanship. Every piece of furniture and upholstery we create is meticulously designed in-house, ensuring that each item reflects our unique vision and aesthetic.

All our furniture and upholstery are made in the UK and brought to life by skilled artisans who handcraft each piece with unparalleled attention to detail. We are also proud to say that all our rugs are made in the specific regions known for producing the best quality, such as Morocco, India, and Turkey.

We are committed to using sustainable materials, carefully sourced to minimise our environmental impact. Our craftsmen are life-long experts, with years of experience honed in their trade, ensuring that every curve, joint, and finish meets the highest standards of quality and durability. This dedication to craftsmanship guarantees that our furniture is not only beautiful and functional but also built to last, embodying the timeless elegance and integrity that Sister stands for.

Care & Upkeep

At Sister, we take pride in offering only the highest quality furnishings made from the finest fabrics and materials. As with anything in life, proper care and maintenance are key to preserving your new purchase and enjoying it for years to come. Here are a few tips to help you take care of your furniture.

UPHOLSTERY

Protect your furniture by avoiding direct sunlight and rotating reversible cushions at regular intervals. To keep your sofa cushions in good shape, vacuum them weekly on a low suction setting to remove any dust particles that may damage the structure of the fabric. If you happen to spill a liquid on your furniture simply dab it gently with a dry cloth, avoid rubbing the spot as it can cause further damage. We suggest using a professional furniture dry cleaning service for both fixed and loose covers where appropriate. This will help maintain the quality and longevity of your furniture.

MARBLE

Clean your marble tops regularly using a marble and granite cleaner with a non-abrasive cloth. Don’t use vinegar, lemon juice, or any cleaning products containing acid on your marble tops. Remember to clean up any spills immediately to prevent staining.

WOOD

Use insulated placemats to protect your surfaces and avoid marks using rubber protective covers. Be careful with sharp objects like cutlery and pens, and try not to drag crockery across the surface as they can leave marks. Avoid using cream cleaners, vinegar, lemon juice, or other acidic cleaners, as they can harm your furniture. And be sure to choose the right furniture polish for your surface.

METAL

Taking care of your metal furniture is pretty simple, clean it with some mild soap and water. Make sure to use a non-detergent soap. After cleaning, dry it off with a towel to avoid any rust-inducing moisture. Don’t use abrasive scrubbers or cleaners as they can scratch the finish and damage your metal furniture.
