Marking a MilestoneHonouring craft, collaboration, and our creative community

This month marks five years of Sister — a milestone that has given us a moment to pause, to reflect, and to celebrate the journey so far. What began as a natural extension of Studio Ashby’s design world has evolved into a distinct universe of its own: a collection shaped by curiosity, craftsmanship, and the shared passion of the makers we work so closely with.

To mark the occasion, we gathered friends, collaborators, and creative partners in the studio — people who have been part of the Sister story from the very beginning. The evening felt like a testament to everything we value: the warmth of shared ideas, the joy of making, and the relationships that bring each piece to life.

Since its inception, Sister has championed objects with character — pieces defined not by trends, but by tactility, material honesty, and the artistry of the hands that shape them. Over the years, this ethos has guided us through new collaborations, collections, and craft traditions, all rooted in a belief that good design should feel personal, thoughtful, and lived with.

As we look ahead, the principles that started Sister remain at the heart of our work: craftsmanship, character, and a love of the handmade. They continue to shape the pieces we create, the partnerships we nurture, and the stories we choose to tell.

To celebrate five years of Sister, we introduced the Sister x Le Tings Carpet Bag, created in collaboration with Harris Elliott. Hand-loomed in Tamale, Northern Ghana and finished in London, the piece brings together different places, practices, and perspectives in a way that feels true to Sister’s ethos.

As with all Sister collaborations, the Carpet Bag is rooted in connection — between materials, makers, and moments in our journey. It reflects where we’ve come from, and the collaborative spirit that continues to guide the brand into its next chapter.
