A calico bird's-eye view of cropsand boundaries by Katarina Lalic

Katarina Lalic’s 'the soft world, hewn' is an ode to the natural world and its many facets — fragments of landscapes that become unrecognisable through abstraction, forming evocative, imagined environments.

Working from mountain contours, megaliths and the patterned surfaces of shells, Lalic builds compositions that move between recognition and ambiguity. Forms emerge, dissolve and reform through layered paint and expressive brushwork, allowing process and uncertainty to shape each work.

Based in London, Lalic’s practice is intuitive and atmospheric, producing artwork that feels both grounded in nature and untethered from any fixed sense of place.

Each work is framed in solid sapele wood lap joint tray frames, finished with Danish oil.
