Brighton Beach House
Working on this contemporary seaside villa was an extraordinary experience, with interiors that felt far removed from its seafront location. Rather than leaning into beach-themed décor, we embraced a contemporary design that respected the building's rich history, once a Victorian ladies' Turkish bath and later a hospital, artists' studios, and finally a derelict site after a fire. Collaborating closely with the clients over six years, we designed a home that retained the character of the original structure but with modern touches, like soaring ceilings and mezzanine spaces. The interior embraced the clients’ love for vibrant, spice-toned colors, rich textures, and layered materials, creating a cozy, lived-in feel. We blended vintage pieces with new finds, from Jacques Adnet dining chairs to a custom opaline pendant, while nodding to the house’s history with Zellige tiles and eclectic influences. Each room has its own unique atmosphere, from a vibrant music room with a hand-painted mural to a den reminiscent of the couple’s previous Georgian home, offering a break from the modern architecture while blending warmth, whimsy, and history throughout the home.
