Holland Park Townhouse
The owners of this Grade II Georgian townhouse, with a refined sense of style and a love for contemporary art, sought to restore the building’s original charm after it was converted into modern apartments in the 1990s. Working with architect William Smalley, they brought back period details such as cornicing, mouldings, and traditional plasterwork. Our role was to layer the home with a soothing, timeless aesthetic using soft blues, pinks, and greys to complement the veined marble and provide contrast to bold artwork, such as two pieces by LA-born artist Mattea Perrotta. The design focused on durable yet elegant materials, like moiré silks, mohair, and recycled glass, creating an environment that balances beauty with practicality. Furniture choices, such as angular Gio Ponti chairs and soft Tacchini sofas, foster a dynamic dialogue of shapes and textures. Intimate, serene spaces were enhanced with unexpected bursts of colour, like the Hermès orange bathroom walls, and a conservatory garden evoking South African influences. Each room serves the needs of a multi-generational family, combining aesthetic appeal with everyday comfort, while the house’s fresh, contemporary feel honours its historic foundations.
