Kensington Villa
This four-storey house in Kensington, designed by a young property developer with a keen eye for art and design, blends comfort, style, and practicality. Tailored to his 6’5” frame and love for both solitude and socialising, the home features spacious, functional areas, including a high kitchen worktop, a deep bathtub, and a spacious outdoor cooking area. The design emphasises bold scale, casual elegance, and a relaxed atmosphere, with key elements guided by three artworks: a black-and-white screen print by Howard Hodgkin, a large family heirloom Japanese screen, and a vibrant painting by Tesfaye Urgessa. The colour palette incorporates navy, green, and ecru with pops of red, ochre, and tangerine, creating a cohesive yet lively aesthetic. Thoughtfully chosen furnishings, such as a chunky kitchen island and an elliptical dining table, along with a mix of classic and contemporary details—like Art Deco cornicing and expressive marble—add charm and personality. The juxtaposition of antiques and modern pieces, including a vintage Danish chair and a French chest of drawers, creates a dynamic yet harmonious interior.
